Richter scale
The Richter scale was named after the American seismologist Charles Francis Richter. This scale measures the motion of the land surface 60 mi from the epicenter, or focus, of the earthquake.
An estimated 800 quakes of magnitudes 5 to 6 occur worldwide each year.
About 50,000 quakes of magnitudes 3 to 4 occur each year, and
only about one of magnitude 8 to 9 each year. On the Richter Scale, between:
0.0 - 4.3: People at rest upstairs notice shaking. Shaking felt indoors; hanging objects swing.
4.3 - 4.8: Sleeping people are awakened. Dishes, doors and trees shake and rock.
4.8 - 6.2: Difficult to stand; people walk unsteadily. Windows break;plaster,bricks & tiles fall.
6.2 - 7.3: General panic. Damage to foundations; buildings destoyed. Water thrown out of river.
7.3 - 8.9: Total destruction; roads break up, rocks fall. Large cracks appear in ground.

Urgent.... Hebahan Segera...

Baru sahaja terima SMS dari seorang sahabat yang memanjangkan berita ini untuk dihebahkan kepada saudara-saudara kita di seluruh dunia bahawa ambulan Team Mercy yang membawa doktor-doktor dari seluruh dunia menuju ke Palestin dibom oleh Yahudi laknatullah.
Seramai 19 orang diberitakan syahid,
12 orang doktor Team Mercy belum ditemukan lagi.
Mohon doa dari semua muslimin dan muslimat dari seluruh dunia yang mengunjungi blog ini.

Allahu Akbar! Amin

Bagaimanapun kenyataan akbar oleh Mercy yang bertarikh 4 Oct 2010 adalah disebaliknya. Apapun kita mohon doa agar semuanya selamat dan mereka dilindungi oleh Allah SWT.

MERCY Malaysia Press Statement: Alleged Bombing of MERCY Malaysia Ambulance and Alleged Deaths of MERCY Malaysia Doctors in Gaza

04 October 2010 - It has come to our attention that there has been a circulation of false SMSes of alleged bombing of MERCY Malaysia ambulance and alleged deaths of doctors deployed by MERCY Malaysia to Gaza.

We would like to appeal to the members of the public to stop circulating the SMS, as the claims are untrue.

We have not deployed any Malaysian staff or volunteers to Gaza in 2010, as all our work is now carried out by our local partners in the Gaza Strip.

Among our current projects there is the running of a psychosocial programme in partnership with the Emaar Society, where we have established a Centre for Care & Psychological Consultation for the inhabitants of the Gaza Strip.

We also run a medical rehabilitation outreach programme with El-Wafa Charitable Society, where disabled patients registered with the local hospital are able to receive physiotherapy, occupational therapy and primary health services at the comfort of their own home.

Other forms of assistance also include the donation of medical equipment and ambulances, as well as the reconstruction of El-Wafa Medical Rehabilitation and Specialised Surgery Hospital. All these efforts have been made possible through the generous donations from the members of the public.
