Richter scale The Richter scale was named after the American seismologist Charles Francis Richter. This scale measures the motion of the land surface 60 mi from the epicenter, or focus, of the earthquake.
An estimated 800 quakes of magnitudes 5 to 6 occur worldwide each year.
About 50,000 quakes of magnitudes 3 to 4 occur each year, and
only about one of magnitude 8 to 9 each year. On the Richter Scale, between:
0.0 - 4.3: People at rest upstairs notice shaking. Shaking felt indoors; hanging objects swing.
4.3 - 4.8: Sleeping people are awakened. Dishes, doors and trees shake and rock.
4.8 - 6.2: Difficult to stand; people walk unsteadily. Windows break;plaster,bricks & tiles fall.
6.2 - 7.3: General panic. Damage to foundations; buildings destoyed. Water thrown out of river.
7.3 - 8.9: Total destruction; roads break up, rocks fall. Large cracks appear in ground.

CELEBES SEA Pula dilanda gempa...sekejap tadi...

CELEBES SEA

Berlaku dua kali selang 2 minit sahaja dari gempa yang pertama.... tapi pada kedalaman lebih dari 500km. Jadi mungkin kesan 'sunami' tu kecil. Jika tidak....habis la kawasan yang berhampiran dengannya, termasuk pantai timur Sabah.

PARAS AIR TASIK GALILEE HARI INI The Sea of Galilee, also Kinneret, Lake of Gennesaret, Lake Tiberias (Hebrew: ים כנרת‎, Arabic: بحيرة طبرية‎), is the largest freshwater lake in Israel, and it is approximately 53 km (33 miles) in circumference, about 21 km (13 miles) long, and 13 km (8 miles) wide. The lake has a total area of 166 km², and a maximum depth of approximately 43 m (141 feet). At 209 metres below sea level, it is the lowest freshwater lake on Earth and the second-lowest lake in the world (after the Dead Sea, a saltwater lake).
